How to personalise your gigs feed and alerts (Slack + email)
Customise your gigs feed and alerts so you only see gigs that match your niche. It all starts with setting up your filters.
Step 1: Set your homepage filters
Head to the gigs page and set your filters to match the kind of work you want. These filters shape what you see in your gigs feed and what gets sent to you via email or Slack.
You can filter by:
Broad categories (e.g. design, marketing, dev)
Specific keywords (e.g. figma, paid media, google ads). You can use multiple keywords or phrases, separated by a comma
Role Type (remote, hybrid)
Country (set by your profile, but adjustable)
Review the results that you see in your feed and once you are satisfied, press the Update Results button.
Step 2: Get curated daily email alerts
Once your filters are set, Shoutt will automatically send personalised daily email alerts with gigs that match your preferences.
To stop email alerts:
Go to Settings > Newsletter Management in your account.
Step 3: Activate real-time Slack alerts (Premium only)
If you’re a Premium user, you also get instant alerts in Slack the moment a new lead matches your filters. Applying early significantly increases your chances of being seen before your pitch gets buried below hundreds of others, so this is a great tool!
Here’s how:
Join the Slack community – You’ll get an invite after upgrading to Premium. Use the same email as your Shoutt account.
Get matched instantly – New leads that match your filters will appear via Shoutt Bot in your Slack (check the Apps section).
Stay in control – Use Slack’s notification settings to fine-tune how often you get pinged.
Tips for better matches
Getting poor matches? Tighten your filters by using keywords + category or for more flexibility, use keywords only
Not getting enough? Use category only or add more keywords.
